Ratul Narain has moved to India from the U.S. to pursue his vision to improve health outcomes in low-resource parts of the world. While growing up, he traveled to several low-income countries including India, where he saw first-hand the disparity in quality-of-life that exists. Through these exposures, he developed a deep interest in health technologies. In 2014, Ratul was selected for the Echoing Green Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship. He also has over 9 years of experience developing medical devices in companies like Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson Cordis, and Embrace Innovations.
Ratul holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and can speak 4 languages.
Head of Design & Customer Research
Mona Sharma has previously designed products for Crompton Greaves, Titan Industries - Watches, and developed new technologies for Intellectual Ventures. She has been passionate about healthcare and creating social impact, and is focused in designing new technologies aimed to improve quality of life.
Mona holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, and a Master's in Product Design from the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore.
Head of Engineering & Operations
Murthy S. has significant experience with medical devices, electronics, and product start-ups. He designed and piloted multiple appropriately designed and affordable products at Embrace Innovations, a Bangalore-based social-enterprise developing affordable infant warmers. Murthy is passionate about providing solutions, whether through health or economics, to improve the quality of life people in his home country.
Murthy holds a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from RV College, Bangalore and can speak 5 languages.
Head of Sales & Business Development
Keshav Kaul has had experience working with Baxter Healthcare for over 2 years, where he was heavily involved in inventory planning, as well as developing and executing multiple projects. Keshav initially joined Bempu Health as a Villgro Fellow; during the course of his 1 year fellowship, he has been involved with the nuts and bolts of the organization, which includes leading the sales efforts. Growing up in India, Singapore, China, and the U.S., Keshav has also first-hand witnessed basic healthcare being a luxury rather than the norm - which is the driving force behind his passion for increasing access to healthcare and making a social impact.
Keshav holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University, double-majoring in Marketing and Operations & Technology Management
Head of Public Health & Partnerships
Gini Morgan has worked in several verticals in the health care space with a focus on reproductive, maternal, and child health. Prior to joining Bempu Health, Gini consulted with Praxify to help develop new doctor interface technologies. She previously worked with NGOs in rural Gujarat developing and implementing public health interventions as a Clinton Fellow with the American India Foundation. Before moving to India, Gini worked with the Louisiana Public Health Institute and Common Ground Health Clinic designing, conducting, and analyzing multiple studies and projects.
Gini holds a B.S. in Public Health and degrees in International Development and Gender & Sexuality Studies from Tulane University.
Manufacturing In-Charge & Engineer
Prashant Patgar has over 8 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, having previously worked in American Power Corp. and Embrace Innovations. He is passionate about his work, and is most interested in applying his skills to solve health problems in India.
Prashant holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering & Electronics Stream.
Manju HK has had over 4 years of experience in supply chain management at Embrace Innovations. While at Embrace, he successfully completed and helped execute the Millennium Villages project for supplying the Embrace warmer across 10 African countries. He is passionate about providing affordable health care and is focused on improving the standard of care in India.
Manjunatha has a Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engineering.
Senior R&D Engineer
Triloki Keshri was involved with R&D at Embrace Innovations for over 5 years. Specifically, he was leading the R&D activities in product design and the development life-cycle of affordable medical devices, as well as setting up the manufacturing to conform to ISO 13485 standards. At Embrace, he played a major role in grooming the company to current standard during its budding stage.
Triloki was born and brought up in Bihar, and has had the opportunity to visit different parts of the country. Through his first-hand experiences, he has seen the reality of healthcare in his country, which in turn drives his passion to raise the standard of care. He holds a B.E. in Electrical & Electronics from VTU.
Sumala Sri was Bempu Health's first intern! We are proud to say that she successfully completed her B.E. in Bio-Medical Engineering from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College, where she was a "Class Topper" and received an award for the Most Outstanding Student of the Year!
As part of her BME degree coupled with her curiosity to learn about affordable health technologies, she took a 4-month internship at Bempu Health where she gained first-hand experience in utilizing technology to tackle health issues in India. Now a full-time member, she works closely with the R&D team as well as helps the team stay on track with her Project Management skills.
AIF William J. Clinton Fellow
Janan Dave comes to Bempu as an AIF William J. Clinton Fellow. Prior to moving to India, Janan worked with various public health organizations in the U.S., focusing on maternal health, end-of-life care, and health policy. Most recently, Janan served as Director of Community Health at the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, where she worked with mayors to develop and implement community-based health and wellness programs. At Bempu, Janan will be working primarily on our public health initiatives, with a focus on our public health business model, clinical work, and global outreach.
Janan holds a B.A. in Public Health and a minor in Spanish from the University of Pennsylvania.
Vijay V. has recently completed his B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College, Perambalur, Tamil Nadu. He is interested in power electronics, and has a strong passion for manufacturing.
Vijay is most interested in applying his interest and skills to solve health problems in India, especially rural India. This is his first role in the field of health technologies, and he is excited to learn that his work will save the lives of millions of babies.
Bhagya has over 15 years of experience as a Sr. Technical Assistant in Saint-Gobain Crystals and Detectors (SGCD). Prior to SGCD, she was working at Skanda Electronics. Bhagya is most interested in designing new technologies that are aimed to improve the quality of life in her home country.
Bhagya holds an ITI in Electronics.
Sales Manager - Karnataka
Kiran Raj brings in a vast experience of 13 years with Abbott, Cipla and also working for an event management company. Having grown up in Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Chattisgarh, he brings with him a strong regional experience with a knack of how to understand the local markets. Kiran also has experience of launching new divisions as well as products in his previous roles at Abbott and Cipla, which is why he wanted to push himself further and utilize his expertise at Bempu Health.
Kiran holds a Masters in Commerce, Diploma in Pharmacy, and APMP from IIM, Calcutta.
Sales Manager - Gujarat
Johnson Varghese has a vast experience of working in various hospitals across Ahmedabad. His area of interest has been setting-up hospitals and medical companies. More specifically, Johnson played a crucial role of setting-up the entire operations in Goenka Dental Research as well as setting up operations in Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad. Understanding the internal hospital operations and administration, he is most excited to use this knowledge to introduce Bempu across hospitals in the Gujarat area to save neonatal lives.
Johnson holds a B.Com from Gujarat University, double-majoring in Economics and Accounts.
